Santa Rosa, CA (December 20, 2007) – Fire Station Red, Young’s Market Company and United Way of Sonoma-Mendocino-Lake have joined forces to help the thousands of families who lost so much during the California wildfires. Through this collaboration, Fire Station Red and Young’s Market Company will donate $1.00 for every bottle of Fire Station Red 2004 Shiraz sold from December 1, 2007 through February 29, 2008 to the United Way Southern California Wildfires Recovery Fund. In addition, $2.00 from every bottle of Fire Station Red 2004 Shiraz and 2004 Zinfandel sold via the Fire Station Red website (www.firestationred.com) will be donated to the fund.
“There are thousands of people in Southern California still recovering from the fires and trying to get their lives back on track” said John Drady, Founder and CEO of Sonoma Coast Vineyards and Winery, which produces Fire Station Red. Drady is a firefighter with the Gold Ridge Fire Department in Sonoma County and began making Fire Station Red in 2003 to assist the fundraising activities of fire service agencies and burn centers across the United States. “United Way clearly understands that long-term recovery is one of the most critical issues and we share their vision. The fires may be out, at least for now, but the rebuilding of lives will go on for years.”
Focused on helping the individuals and communities affected by the fires with long-term recovery, the United Way Southern California Wildfires Recovery Fund will fulfill unmet needs, which could include counseling, medical services, vouchers for rent, utility assistance, or other services. A committee of volunteers has been organized to distribute the funds in the most effective and efficient way to meet the most pressing long-term needs in the counties affected by the fires, including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.
Please join United Way in assisting the thousands of California families who have lost so much. Fire Station Red may be purchased at wine retail outlets throughout California and enjoyed at many fine restaurants. Wine retailers and restaurants can contact Young’s Market Company at 800-317-6150.
